To sext or not to sext…

Everyone seems to be at it…England footballer Ashley Cole, TV and radio presenter Vernon Kay and golfer Tiger Woods and half the rest of the world who have a mobile phone.

It’s 'sexting' of 'sex texting'.

If you need to ask what it is, you’re probably out of the loop and all fingers and thumbs when it comes to mobile phone messaging.

According to the press and popular magazines, sexting is the new virtual adultery and involves sending racy messages and revealing photos of yourself to someone who has a romantic involvement with you.

OK. Sexting is often drunken revellers sending flashes of the boobs, bums and other bits to their loved ones and even their partner, husband or wife.

Sometimes, the heat of the moment, flushed with booze, is overcoming and the message or photo gets sent to all the contacts in the mobile address book.

The craze started with teenagers and has spread like wildfire seemingly to anyone who has a camera phone.

Should you sext is a big question for those seeking online romance who have yet to meet their partner?

Well, that’s up to the receiver to do as they would be done by or not.

For safety’s sake, women of any age should think long and hard before sending images of them winging across the mobile network. After all, you have to have some trust in the person at the other end and that’s not easy if you haven’t met them yet.

So you have to make up your mind what to do if you get a sext.

One positive outcome is you at least get to try before you buy. An unsolicited sext gives you some idea of the sender’s mindset and a sneaky preview that’s not generally available until it’s too late.

Don’t forget what you see might not be what you get. Sexters are often accused of ripping off images from web sites and sending them as pictures of themselves.

If you are in a steady relationship, sexting your lover with some well chosen words and may be a glimpse of something shocking can build excitement and anticipation – as long as you know they are alone with no one looking over their shoulder when they get your message!
