The average online dater’s expectations of the looks of people seeking friendship and love from a web site meeting are a little unrealistic, according to a recent survey.

It seems many daydreamers who are over 30 hold a secret desire for a George Clooney or Halle Berry in their life, while neither holds much attraction for younger age groups.

According to the Stella Sex Survey, just under 1850 people were asked to take their pick from five of the world's most desirable men and women, but the surprise was how many said none of them were appealing.

Nearly half of all women (47%) and a third of men (31%) gave emphatic thumbs down to a list of Hollywood names including:

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz.

Of course, the reverse means 53% of women and a huge 66% of men savour the chance of a romance with one of them.

Country lovers should look for someone more down to earth

The number of people who harbour feelings for the stars unsurprisingly raises the younger the person asked.

Love Horse doesn’t list any Hollywood celebrities as looking for love as far as we know, at least under the screen names, but still has plenty of great people in the market for some fun and romance.

So if you are holding out for Brad, George or Scarlett, don’t hold your breath just yet.

Otherwise our site still lists thousands of profiles for people who love country pursuits like walking, riding and nature.

Now’s a good time to put aside that search for a superstar lover and hook up with someone more down to earth, who is probably a lot nicer and more fun to be with anyway.

A walk in the country now spring is here reveals carpets of bulbs breaking through, the lambing season and buds waiting to open on trees and bushes.
