What is Lovehorse.co.uk?

Lovehorse.co.uk is an online community for those who live, work, or play in the countryside; equestrian singles, horse & country sports lovers, farmers, farriers, vets and all rural romantics can find countryside love and friendship here. It's also an online meeting place for horse and country lovers who just want to chat about their favourite equestrian topics and to meet up for riding and other country sports.

What are the membership requirements?

There are only two membership requirements:

What can I do in Lovehorse.co.uk?

  • You can interact with other individual members in a variety of ways; messaging, instant messaging, virtual greetings (kisses).

  • You can add photos and multimedia files to your profile.
  • You can participate in discussions within the Forums.
  • You can chat away with other members in the chat rooms.

What does it cost to join?

Registration and photo profile are FREE OF CHARGE, so there is no cost for joining and trying out the ‘look and feel’ of the site. Basic membership also gives you free access to the Forums (provided that the house rules are observed).

When you upgrade your membership by subscribing you can start to use all the features of the site. Subscription prices are:

  • Two month membership - GBP £20.95 (less than 35p per day)

Sign in then click the Subscribe tab. The Subscribe page will show your current membership status with the other membership options underneath and a summary of what each option allows you to do. Use the drop down menus to choose a payment plan, then choose PayPal from the next menu, and then click the checkout button. What is Trial membership?

Trial membership is a cheaper, short term membership which allows you to try most of the priveleges of full subscriber membership. Please note that trial memberships can be used only once.

What is Gold Cup membership?

This is full subscriber membership and gives you access to all areas and functions. You can subscribe with a one off payment or recurring payments e.g. monthly payments. Price details are on the home page and on the Subscribe page.

What is Credit Membership?

Simply put; only pay for the things you want to use. Instead of taking out a subscription make a deposit into your account, and as you use various functions on the site a small deduction is made from your account fund. In this way you only pay for want you want to use and only when you want to use them. You can also pay in small sums as and when you like e.g. £5, £10, £15, $20 etc.

How else can I obtain membership upgrades?

Upgrades can also be obtained through referrals. Any member can use the "Invite a friend" box on their member home page to send an invite to join the site to as many friends as they like. If anyone registers as a result of their invitations then they will earn membership upgrades. If the referral results in a subscription then they will earn even more upgrade time. This gives non-subscribers plenty of opportunity to upgrade their membership without making a payment.

How is my privacy protected?

Love Horse does not share your information with any third parties. We advise all our members not to divulge any personal contact information to other members until they feel sure it is safe to do so. We advise our members to communicate with other members through the site using the various functions within it. By doing so you can enjoy communicating with others while maintaining your privacy.

Members are advised to use caution and discretion when adding personal information to their profiles. For example, if you would rather not reveal your date of birth or other information of this nature we suggest that you use alternatives. Use a fake date of birth and have two birthdays; one is your 'public' birthday and the other is your personal birthday.

Please click here to read our Privacy Policy.

How safe is online dating?

Online dating is just as safe as any other method of meeting people provided one takes sensible precautions, just as we do in all our daily lives.

  • Initially communicate through this site.
  • Don't give out any details about yourself (especially contact details) until you feel comfortable in doing so.
  • Take your time. Don't rush into anything.
  • If you feel you're being rushed by another member then slow it down or walk away. You're under no obligation to meet anyone or reveal anything you don't want to.
  • If you feel concerned by anything walk away and let us know of anything you think is odd or unpleasant.
  • If you are suspicious of anything a person says, inconsistencies, reticence, anything at all that makes you unsure then don't continue the dialogue.
  • Ask for a photo. If the profile doesn't have one, ask them to add one, or ask them to send you one.
  • Before arranging to meet, chat on the phone first.
  • Ask friends what they think, don't be shy to ask for a second opinion.

If you arrange to meet somebody through the site exercise the same caution as you would on any date. Be sensible and trust your instincts.

  • Use your judgement and be responsible.
  • Meet in a public place.
  • Tell friends where you are going.
  • Take a mobile phone with you.
  • Do not pass on any contact information (e.g. your email address, phone number or home address) until you feel comfortable doing so.
  • If your date presses you for this information walk away. By going on a date you are under no obligations to reveal more than you choose.
  • If, for any reason, you feel uncomfortable during the date then leave.
  • Guard your drink to ensure that it is not spiked. If you're concerned, make sure you get your own drinks.
  • Treat your date with respect. If you feel you don't click it's better to let them know (even if it's a made-up excuse) rather than getting your coat and doing a runner without telling them.
  • If your date is not keen on meeting again please don't feel that you've been rejected. Different people look for different things. There are more people on the site! You may not meet the right person on your first date.

How do I advertise my location to other members?

Here's a quick and easy way to announce your location to the rest of the site: Use the Tag feature on your profiles to add your county or nearest major city.
For example, lovehorse has added the tag 'Hampshire' to his profile. If you click on the link "Tags & Locations" in the top menu you'll see that Hampshire appears in the list of tags. Click on Hampshire and the lovehorse profile is displayed.
Anyone who lives in Hampshire and who tags their own profile in the same way will appear whenever the tag 'Hampshire' is clicked in the lists of tags. You can do this for any county, city, or town. Here's how:

How do I browse other members’ profiles?

Click on the Members tab to view 'Featured Members' and 'Who's Onlineo'. You can also view top rated photos and members, blogs, and tags here. The Tags and Locations link will display any tags which often include counties and towns, so that's an ideal place to start browsing too.

How do I search for other members?

Click on the Search tag and enter your search criteria. Leave any boxes blank if they are not relevant. Click the search button to view results. We recommend that you use only basic criteria first, and then gradually introduce more specific criteria.

How do I save the search criteria for another time?

To save the criteria to use again, click the Save this search link and give it a name. Your saved search will be available again the next time you visit the search apge.

Click on this tab to add HTML that will form the HTML components mentioned above. For example, you could add a link to a picture on another site. Use the preview button to check the code, then click the save button to save it. (N.B. We reserve the right to remove any HTML that is inappropriate or potential harmful to the site).
